Apply for building permission online
Send your building plans to the Central Housing & Planning Authority, pay the fee, and follow your application step by step — from your phone or computer, without a trip to the office.
Creating an account is free. You need an email address.
How it works
Four steps. You can stop at any point and pick up where you left off.
-
1
Create an account
Your name, your email address and a password. It takes about two minutes.
-
2
Fill in the form
We ask one thing at a time, in plain words. Your answers are saved as you go.
-
3
Add your documents and pay
Attach your plans and papers — a clear photo from your phone is fine. The system tells you the fee and how to pay it.
-
4
Follow its progress
See exactly where your application is and what happens next. When it is approved, download your permit and stamped plans here.
What you can do here
Apply for a building permit
Permission to build, extend or change a house, shop or other building.
Ask before you apply
A pre-consultation gets CH&PA's advice on your idea first, so you do not pay for drawings that will not be approved.
See where it is
No phone calls needed. Every stage is shown, with a note on whether anything is needed from you.
Keep your permit
Your permit and stamped plans stay here. Download them again whenever you need them.
What you will need
Have these ready before you start. A clear photo taken with your phone is fine for each of them.
- Your ID
- Proof that you own the land, or the owner's written permission to use it
- Your building plans
- A site plan or a map showing where the land is
Some kinds of application need more. The form tells you exactly which documents yours needs. If you do not have them all today, your application waits as a draft until you come back with the rest.
Need a hand?
Call or email and a CH&PA officer will walk you through it.
